Mitchell-Overturff Center for Industrial Trades Ribbon Cutting and Dedication
It was a great moment for the Slaton community and high school as we dedicated the new Mitchell-Overturff Center for Industrial Trades. The building was named in honor of longtime Vocational Education teachers Don Mitchell and Sherrell Overturff. Members of both families, as well as city and school officials, were on hand to cut the ribbon to officially open the center.
Membership Cook Out
Our annual membership cook out, Thursday, June 3rd. We had a great time at the annual membership cookout. The weather was perfect. A big thank you to the grill masters Jim, Terry and Mike. A special thank you to Humble Grounds for the tea and SEDCO for providing the desserts.
South Plains Air Show
Saturday June 12th Larry T. Neal Memorial Airport Gates open at 9am. Tickets are $15 for adults adn children ages 6 to 12 years are $10 and those under 6 years are free. Performances include Kyle Franklin and the Franklin Flying Circus, Bob Carton's Vertigo, and Tora Tora Tora. Also performing Ron Cain in his super Chipmunk, and other World Ward II warbirds. Movies on the Wall
It's back courtesy of Slaton Legacy Project. Located at 106 Texas Avenue, the movies will begin around sundown. Bring your lawn chair or a blanket and get comfortable. Concessions are available. Grand Opening of the Slaton Animal Hospital
Saturday, June 19th at noon. Ribbon cutting ceremony followed by an open house party. They will be hosting tours of their facilities (hosptial/boarding). There will also be food trucks, demonstrations and door prizes. Special guests from the South Plains Wildlife Rehabilitation Center include Roman, the pig and Cleo, the owl. Festivities will run through the afternoon.
Independence Day Festival
It's back! Our summer is starting to look good. Since July 4th falls on a Sunday this year, our directors decided to move the annual festival so as not to conflict with church and to accommodate the class reunions. So, we will be celebrating our nation's independence on Saturday, July 3rd. To change things up a little more, it's been moved to the town square. We'll have our bands and local vendors as always. Plans are in the "works", we'll keep you updates posted.
Slaton Harvey House Pancake Breakfast

The car club elected to postpone the show for 2021. They will regroup and try again in 2022.

Slaton Economic Development Corporation
Economic Development and Incentive Grants Applications must be received by the first of the month to be presented to the Board of Slaton EDC Board of Directors.
