Devastating Fire Destroys Two Businesses - Community Unites
The fire that struck this past Saturday has completely destroyed Klemke’s Sausage Haus and Slaton Family Medical Clinic. Many other businesses were affected but are in the process of recovering. Our prayers go out to each one of these businesses and their families as they work to recover. Our local first responders and those that came in from the surrounding communities worked tirelessly to bring this fire under control. Thank you. You are an amazing team. The Slaton Bakery will be closed this week while they clean up from smoke damage. The Slaton Family Medical Clinic will relocate temporarily to 101 N. 9th, just the next street over. The Slaton Economic Development Office opened their doors to allow them to continue seeing their patients. The clinic will reopen in another building on the town square soon. Meanwhile funds have been set up for Klemke’s Sausage Haus. The First United Methodist Church has set up a Klemke Fund, mail donations to the church at P. O. Box 250, Slaton, TX 79364. There is also a GoFundMe page: https://www.gofundme.com/klemkes. A GoFundMe page has also been set up for Slaton Family Medical Clinic: https://www.gofundme.com/slaton-family-medical-clinic-fire.
