Caprock Classic Car Club Show and Cruise Every third Saturday in July. The event takes place on our town square located at 9th Street and Garza Avenue. The cruise is on Friday night beginning at 7:30pm. The show is Saturday beginning at 9am. Classic and custom designed cars and trucks participate in the show. The event includes music, food, games, raffles and merchandise vendors welcome visitors to this annual event. July 4th Festival The Slaton Chamber of Commerce hosts the annual July 4th Festival at the Slaton Park located on 15th and Garza Avenue. The event begins at 10am and runs until 3pm. Slatonites celebrate in style with music performed by area musicians, games, raffles and of course lots of food. This event is supported by our local businesses and our local youth, church, civic and school organizations provide the food and fun.
South Plains Air Show Hosted by the Texas Air Museum-Caprock Chapter. This show takes place on the first weekend in June on odd number year. The Slaton Municipal Airport is located on FM 400 2 miles north of Slaton. The show offers breathtaking re-enactments and aerobatic performances, and death defying stunts by pilots from around the country. Other acts include jet-powered cars, cyclists and more. St. Joseph's School Sausagefest 3rd Sunday in October located at 20th and Division Street. This event includes a sausage dinner, secret recipe sausage sale, silent and live auctions, raffle, quilt show and best of all the carnival. Games and rides are provided all afternoon. Trunk-or-Treat Halloween Night beginning at 6pm - on 9th and Lubbock Street. Halloween fun and antics that occur during our fun-filled "trunk-or-treat". Local businesses, organizations and clubs host the annual event by lining up in the City Hall parking lot for everyone to browse through for treats.
Small Town Christmas The first Saturday in December each year. Our day kicks off with Breakfast with Santa hosted by the Women's Division as the First Baptist Church Activities Center. Then that evening we host a community wide event featuring Santa along with train and carriage rides. Local church choirs perform as well as the Slaton ISD choirs and bands. Many other activities take place include the Christmas tree decorating contest. Complimentary refreshments are provided around the Square as well as several food trucks.
